SHELF FULL OF BOOKS REVIEWS THE CHRISTMAS VILLAGE

Very grateful for this wonderful review for THE CHRISTMAS VILLAGE from Kathryn Svendsen at SHELF FULL OF BOOKS. She'll be reviewing RETURN TO CANTERBURY later this month, when my KINDLE COUNTDOWN PROMOTION kicks off. Stay tuned!

Here's a taste of what she has to say:

There was a lot of exciting action and suspense in the book that will hold the interest of middle graders. Even as an adult reader I didn’t want to put the book down.

I loved the old time feel to the town of Canterbury. With a look back to the depression era, The Christmas Village brought back the old time magical feel that Christmas used to have before all the electronic gadgetry brings now.

I found the resolution to Jamie’s dilemma of how to get home cleverly thought out and executed.

I absolutely loved The Christmas Village. It’s one of those favourites that’ll be one my bookshelves for years to come. I gave this book 5 stars out of 5. A great read for everyone in the family!

A GRANDMA'S REVIEW OF THE CHRISTMAS VILLAGE

Review of The Christmas Village from a grandma who is reading it for the second time with her grandson:

"I'm reading this wonderful story with my grandson, because he's too young to read it to himself. Despite that, he is on the edge of his seat (or my lap!) and always sighs with regret when we have to stop reading until the next day. This is our second reading, and we're both enjoying it even more than the first time. We're noticing more details, and feel like we know Jamie, Kelly and Chris, better. This is a classic for sure in our family, and we have Return to Canterbury ready to read next! Many thanks to Ms. Goodwin for helping me make more great memories with my grandson!"

Check Out My Interview at Becky Povich's Blog!

HI! Please pop over to Becky Lewellyn Povich's blog to read her fun interview with me. I asked her not to make it too serious! To give you an idea, here's her first question and my answer to it:

Becky:  If there was going to be a movie made about your life, who would you like to play you at your current age?
Melissa: Can we meld Helen Mirren and Jennifer Lawrence? They both have a free-spiritedness at very different life stages, and I relate to each of them at those stages.  And they seem very comfortable with who they are, which I feel I have, finally, also become. If we can’t do that, then let’s go with Mary Steenbergen. She’s closer to my age, we have similar facial features and she seems very nice.

Becky is the author of From Pigtails to Chin Hairs, a humorous memoir that is available on Amazon or from Becky's website

So, please pop over to her BLOG and if you're on twitter, would love for you to tweet it.

Thanks and have a great day!

New Review for Return to Canterbury

Latest review for Return to Canterbury on Amazon:

"An Unforgettable Return to an Unforgettable Place:"

"I was privileged to read A Christmas Village, and loved every minute of it. I anxiously and excitedly awaited Return To Canterbury's arrival. I loved this book as much as it's predecessor. It was wonderful to revisit all the beloved characters I fell in love with. I loved getting to visit the wonderful town of Canterbury again. I was on the edge of my seat, and going through chocolate, during some of the more dramatic parts.

Just like A Christmas Village, this book is one you won't want to put down. You, too, will feel the love between all the characters. These books are ones generations of readers are sure to embrace."
